SHAAMS strategic project was presented during the regional event of the “Global Shapers” (22nd – 23rd May) ahead of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, which took place at the Dead Sea in Jordan from 24th to 26th of May 2013.

The Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, is a “network of hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievement and their drive to make a contribution to their communities” (according to the website of Global Shapers). The 2013 gathering of the Global Shapers Community in the Middle East and North Africa region will serve to build networks and share knowledge between entrepreneurs.

The event was attended by Al Urdonia Lil Ebda, a Jordan organisation focusing on enterprise development, which is part of SHAAMS.

SHAAMS at a glance 

SHAAMS, a three-year long project, aims to increase population awareness of the advantages of solar energy, elaborate financial instruments to facilitate the solar sector development and identify and implement best practices in legal, regulatory and organisational issues so as to insure the sustainability of this development.

“Strategic Hubs for the Analysis and Acceleration of the Mediterranean Solar Sector”(SHAAMS) is coordinated by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation (Spain, Cataluña). The partnership is made of 11 research centers, technological institutes and business associations from Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon and Spain.
