Al Urdonia Lil Ebda in cooperation with the founder of the global earth hour Initiative (World Wildlife Fund (WWF) within its activities in SHAAMS organized the Earth Hour Event that was held on Saturday 28thMarch 2015 in Dar Al Saraya Museum in Irbid from 8:30 to 9:30 PM, with the objective of preservation of the environment and the awareness of the communities of the need to use clean energy sources and rationalizing the consumption of energy.
This event was the biggest on the effectiveness in the field of energy conservation through strengthening the focus on environmental challenges to reduce climate change.
More than 100 participants from schools, students and their families and representatives of public organizations from the civil society, local authorities, private companies and activists in the field of the environment from various governorates to participate in the activities of this event.
All participants celebrated the Earth Hour event which included a presentation about Al Urdonia Lil Ebda and its activities and a brief about SHAAMS which was given by Engineer Mohammad Alamoush- the Chief Executive Director of the company. Followed by a presentation of the Earth Hour, and the importance of providing energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy use and the Solar Energy in particular and the negative energy consumption on the environment and our planet. Then an announcement with the best video in the video contest of “use your power” which was filmed by the participated schools.
The event ended effectively with switching off the lights of the Dar Al Saraya Museum and lighting candles as a symbolic activity of this event.
