Irbid – Al Urdonia Lil Ebda within Strategic Hubs for the Analysis and Acceleration of the Mediterranean Solar Sector project (SHAAMS) and in cooperation with the Jordan University of Science and Technology within the Cross-border NET work to foster Knowledge-intensive business Incubation and TEchnology transfer project (NETKITE) which the two projects funded by the European Union within the framework of joint cooperation across the borders of the Mediterranean (ENPI CBC Med)- held a national roundtable meeting to discuss the status of the solar energy and aspects of renewable energy in Jordan.

The meeting was held in the university campus on 11 / 12 / 2014 using new technology called Electronic Town Meeting (ETM Jordan) and wide participation of experts and specialists in the field of renewable energy from Jordan and other countries of the world.

Dr. Suhail Kiwan started the meeting mentioning the importance of involving specialists and experts in community activities and events would improve business operations and services in the area of the Mediterranean, to enable its citizens and organizations to contribute to the provision of the various reports and opinions to resolve problems and to provide suggestions on topics such as renewable energy, and conservation of the environment and infrastructure in cities and other urban planning and development, all inclusive participatory process to discuss all current and future views that contribute to the public interest.

The Chief Executive Officer Engineer Mohammad Al Amoush welcomed the attendees then mentioned the importance of this meeting as it is a priority to Jordan, since it suffers from a severe lack of conventional energy resources and the need to seriously consider the topics of renewable energy to advocate in this topic within the framework of an integrated sustainable development and the needs of current generations without affecting the needs of future generations.

Mr. Alamoush took a moment to introduce Al Urdonia Lil Ebda and its activities, and its geographical spread in the kingdom. Explaining also the how the company aims to  achieve economic growth through increasing the rate of business growth, and encouraging start up businesses, and to support emerging companies in the development of innovative products through the provision of technical support, and create job opportunities in line with the success and sustainability of companies and their product trade, and transferring creative ideas into initiatives and promote transfer of scientific research to reality. As well as the use of new scientific discoveries, and changing the way society looks at personal initiative and innovation and risk. AULE provides entrepreneurs with the place (incubator), and offering management advisory services and technical assistance and helping them turn their ideas to successful enterprises.

Mr. Alamoush also introduced SHAAMS program funded by the European Union within the framework of the program of joint cooperation across the borders of the Mediterranean, which aims to increase awareness and education of the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar energy, and the establishment of solar energy uses, and promote and encourage the use of alternative energy, and how it facilitates technology transfer.

Dr. Fahmi Abu Alrub- Chemical Engineering professor at the University of Science and Technology- said that the participation of the University in this meeting came within the program of NETKITE that is funded by the European Union which promotes the participation of citizens in the current and the future strategic issues in the countries of the Mediterranean Basin and the quality of the services provided by the Chambers and its application in such cities as public participation.

Mr. Abu Alrub acknowledged that such meeting gives us the opportunity to apply and develop all the ideas and initiatives in our countries, which would contribute to the process of sustainable development, and assistance in unleashing the potential of young people and improve their pioneering ideas, which will reflect on the innovative solutions to the problems and promotes the concept of innovation, in both the quantitative and the qualitative side.
